Well we’re movin on up, To the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky. Movin on up To the east side. We finally got a piece of the pie.
Actually, the west side. After twelve years in the print and design industry, and about six and a half at my current position as Prepress Ninja, I’m taking a step of faith and shifting careers.
This whole thing was unplanned. Totally out-of-the-blue. I have been providing freelance Mac Tech Support services to my new employer since February, after hours and on weekends, on an on-call basis. Then, completely unexpectedly, the president of the company offers me the position. I think the title will be Operations Manager, but since it’s new even for them, that could change.
I’m really looking forward to it. It feels like the time is right to move out of the print industry and into something less volatile in these uncertain economic times. I am moving into the health services field, an almost recession-proof industry (if there is such a thing). The new gig is with a Canadian distributor of Orthopaedic Arthroscopy specialties, servicing surgeons in Sports Medicine and Extremities. Sure it’s a complete opposite direction from anything I am used to, but I DO love a challenge.
And it’s closer to home.
There ain’t nothin wrong with that.

Hurray! I never really liked that little squint that you work(ed) for. I didn’t like the way he broke into your vacations, or the way he yanked you around all the time. And you! To darn nice to say anything about it. Will there be a “going away” party? Will I have time to get there and pop that little leprechaun in the nose? What should I wear?
